Testimonials

What our customers think!

When I walk in to la Douce France, I have stepped into France for a few minutes! From the wonderful food that surrounds me to the welcome from the lovely owner, it is a real treat. Then the decisions!!
And where else would I find the best marrons glacees? The fabulous bottled pears in juice? Tiny baba au rhum in a jar? The best gratin dauphinois - if there are any left! The quiches, the fruit nectars, the endless variety and assortment of gorgeous biscuits! A wonderful place and I'm so happy they moved from Yonge Street to the Danforth.
Vive la gastronomie Francaise!!

Most amazing imported chocolate and pastry goods, and even cheese ! The work they do to represent France's culinary culture is tremendous here and you feel France's best picks in one spot ! This type of culinary collection is for France itself, something very rare. Love to stop by and fill up my French childhood senses here, definitely recommend for the curious pallets ! When COVID bans the trip, just come there and you will get it all ! Definitely recommend !

Very special, small producer, artisanal products from France. Nothing else like it in Toronto

All the baskets arrived to destination and my family and friends weren’t able to wait until Christmas, and devoured their goodies. My Breton friend said that the marrons glacé brought him back to the Christmas mornings of his childhood. He said the calissons are of very high quality and he’s very impressed that such products are available in Toronto. I had to promise to take him to Douce France on his next visit to Toronto, when things return to normal!

Douce France is not your typical Toronto patisserie. While others bake and make things here, Douce France chooses to import everything fresh from France. The result? Pastries that are indulgently buttery, croissants that are airily flaky, chocolates that are delicately refined and not overly sweet.

The main reason though I keep coming back here time and again is because, once the weather gets cold, Douce France starts offering one of my most favourite drinks in the whole world: Angelina's hot chocolate. Thick. Dense. Intense. It's easily the best hot chocolate in the city, no contest. Pricey, yes, but worth it's weight in gold. How do you say "heaven" in French?

Dear Christel,

Thank you very much for your help and kind assistance.

It can be difficult arranging a gift from so far away. You have made it easy. It has been a true pleasure working with you to put our gift together.

When I visit Gail I will be sure to have Douce France on top of the list for a visit. It would be lovely to meet you. I am looking forward to your pastries and tea.

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary!!!

Thank you again for helping us make this gift happen.

Best regards,

Wendy

Always an amazing selection of quality pastries, chocolates and jams and French imported delicacies. Thank you for being there to brighten our childhood memories with finesse ! Definitely worth the try, you won't be disappointed !

It's always a great feeling to come across an establishment that celebrates the authenticity of their native cuisine. The store keeper/manager was really informed about the food they offer and the ingredients that go into the same; which again was a delight. The only problem was that there's just so many options to choose from, comparing my appetite!I hope to be a regular at the bakery soon enough, lol!

Sharat S.

Highly recommend visiting Douce France on the Danforth for authentic French speciality foods, delicious sweets, coffee drinks and so much more! True French experience.

The owner and staff are very welcoming, educated with the products they sell and kind with their time explaning and assisting customers with any questions.

Must visit if you want a taste of France in Toronto!

I live in the neighbourhood and only discovered this gem today, after they have been there, eight years in business. Like a kid in a candy store with so many rare hard to find French delicacies! After a trip to Dijon a few years ago, I had been longing for Pain d'espice and to my delight found an authentic loaf, made in Dijon. Loaded up on a few other goodies as well. Chocolate croissant like you have never had before. Be sure to check them out!
